Wetlands - Dot Card
Dot Cards are a great alternative to traditional pans of paint. They are a more affordable option as they’re easier for me to make, and they contain a good sample sized dollop of each colour. Dot Cards also can be shipped as letter mail, saving some shipping costs for those in hard to reach places. Dot Cards make great gifts as it’s a way for people to try several colours and explore my paints before committing to an actual palette. Also, they’re zero waste!
The Wetlands Palette - This palette includes four watercolours; Nettle, Marsh Marigold, Heron and Bog Cranberry. Each colour has been crafted using mineral and/or botanical pigments to capture just some of my favourite sights in the various wetlands near my home. Some colours were inspired by recent visits to these lands, others were born in the hope of seeing them again soon. Individual colour descriptions are below.

Nettle - A bright green named for a plant that often takes root in disturbed soils, and is often the first sign of spring near my home. This paint has some granulation thanks to the indigo, and when lots of water is used the blue tones separate out slightly giving some texture.
Heron - A muted steel blue with mild granulation. Made from a mix of both mineral and botanical pigments.
Bog Cranberry - An interesting, cool red with heavy separation. The larger pigment particles settle out in the grooves of the paper for a dramatic show of texture. Named after a very special plant that grown in alpine bogs here on Vancouver Island.
Marsh Marigold - A mellow, buttery yellow. Smooth in application with minimal granulation and no separation.
