Lamp Black
Understory watercolours are crafted in small batches from natural, earth based pigments. Each pan of paint is carefully mulled by hand with a simple formula tailored to each pigment. Our pans are poured and dried in layers to minimize bubbles and cracks and to make sure they’re as full as possible. All orders are shipped in a palm sized metal tin for easy storage and each pan is fitted with a small magnet to hold it in place.
Lamp Black - The deepest natural black I’ve found, for the longest night of the year. Lamp black is made of soot from oil burning lamps. It’s opaque with bluish undertones and incredible tinting stength. This colour is part of the Winter Solstice palette, take a look at the full palette here.
