Gilsonite
Understory watercolours are crafted in small batches from natural, earth based pigments. Each pan of paint is carefully mulled by hand with a simple formula tailored to each pigment, and then are poured and dried in layers to make sure they’re as full as possible. All orders are shipped in a palm sized metal tin for easy storage and each pan is fitted with a small magnet to hold it in place.
Gilsonite - A very dark brown, heavily textured paint with a little bit of satin shimmer in the right light. This colour is made of from gilsonite, a mineral used to create asphalt.
