Cinder
Understory watercolours are crafted in small batches from natural, earth based pigments. Each pan of paint is carefully mulled by hand with a simple formula tailored to each pigment. Pans are poured and dried in layers to minimize bubbles and cracks and to make sure they’re as full as possible.
Cinder - A soft, warm black. I passed through many burned forests this summer, but one in particular stood out me. This is the deep, sooty black of thousands of trees, charred to their core but still standing, whistling in the wind.
