Red Hematite
Understory watercolours are crafted in small batches from natural, earth based pigments. Each pan of paint is carefully mulled by hand with a simple formula tailored to each pigment. Our pans are poured and dried in layers to minimize bubbles and cracks and to make sure they’re as full as possible. All orders are shipped in a palm sized metal tin for easy storage and each pan is fitted with a small magnet to hold it in place.
Red Hematite - A soft, cool red derived from natural hematite of the Blue Ridge mountains in Virginia. This paint has a high tinting strength and a much brighter tone than it’s sister Violet Hematite, but less separation and granulation.
